Position Summary

 

Supervise shift personnel daily to meet filling operations requirements. Responsible for quality, process improvement, training, maintenance, scheduling batches to meet production needs, set-up assistance, and general plant organization. Understands and directs safety, cGMP, housekeeping, cleaning, and sanitization, and environmental initiatives within assigned area in FDA regulated Facility. Promotes, understands, and directs 5S and Lean Manufacturing efforts for positive and sustainable results. This is a second shift position.

 

Essential Functions

  • Supply department employees with daily schedule and goals and overall performance matrixes to support overall business goals.
  • Monitor department work processes to insure safety, quality and cost effectiveness.
  • Responsible for the accurate completion and maintenance of Production Records.
  • Adapts to change, anticipates problems and develops a plan.
  • Collaborates with Quality, Planning, Warehouse, and other areas to create a partnership to remove barriers and accomplish goals.
  • Develop colleagues to meet training and staffing requirements of department.
  • Ensure correct implementation and documentation of department SOP files, cleaning and housekeeping procedures.
  • Enforce all cGMP & Lean 5S rules within work area.
  • Enforce all company policies and procedures.
  • Conduct investigations, identify root causes and initiate appropriate preventive and corrective actions.
  • Evaluate the performance of associates and celebrate successes.
  • Audit production lines and troubleshoot production variances to identify root causes.
  • Provide regular encouragement and feedback, both formal and informal.
  • Responsible for effective, consistent delivery of progressive discipline.
  • Responsible for identifying and implementing continuous improvement projects within department.
  • Address all safety issues with work area.
  • Interface with Production Manager and Planning departments as needed, to schedule and expedite jobs.
  • Interface with technical transfer and/or packaging development colleagues to effectively develop new or improved processes in the operations areas.
  • Assist in validation of all processes and equipment in area of responsibility.
  • Responsible for the spending and manufacturing variances within work area.
  • Responsible for meeting the quality, safety and productivity targets within the work area.
  • Perform any additional job-related duties as requested

 

Required Skills and Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years’ manufacturing experience in an FDA regulated packaging environment, preferably in a liquid fill environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Basic knowledge in principles of liquid filling and packaging.
  • Good technical understanding of mechanical skills.
  • Basic knowledge in SAP, Microsoft office software and Quality Tracking Management System (EQMS, TrackWise or similar)
  • Experience and knowledge or use of Lean principles or techniques.

 

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with liquid compounding and batching, liquid fill production, and FDA regulated facility strongly preferred

 

Working Relationships

  • Site personnel, contractors and regulatory agencies

 

Work Environment

  • Some travel may be required for training, etc.
  • Work on night shifts and weekends required.
  • Exposure to health risks or conditions that may require the use of Personal Protective Equipment.
