Position Summary

This Japan Demand/Supply planner position is responsible for managing and analysing the company’s demand forecast utilizing demand planning software. Through leading local S&OP process and collaborating with Commercial/Marketing/Finance teams, this position provides the business with the most accurate demand forecast possible. While achieving the higher forecast accuracy, this opposition must achieve country Days of Inventory (DII) target while meeting customer service On-Time / In-Full(OTIF) within the assigned business unit closely working with supply planners under the oversight of the Supply Chain Planning Manager.

Universal Accountabilities

  • Be responsible for developing demand forecast for the company’s products through application of advanced forecasting methods and integration of latest marketing and sales activities and assumptions.
  • Analyse sales forecast performance and trends to identify opportunities and risks, and then proactively communicate to cross-functional teams for necessary actions.
  • Reconcile gap between demand forecast and actual sales result and monitor forecast accuracy for continuous improvements.
  • Maintain and update demand planning master data in the company’s system (JDA Manugistics, SAP) to assure data accuracy for supply planning and better statistical forecast outputs.
  • Lead internal stakeholders in development of the most realistic NPI forecast by providing insights, assumptions, and historical sales/promotion analysis with considerations of cannibalization impacts with existing products.
  • Lead demand consensus meetings by driving 1) Forecast alignment, 2) NPD launching volume plan and assumption alignment, 3) Depletion plans of slow moving and obsoletes inventory as one of demand plans, 4) Improvements on forecast quality and 5) Process improvements for a more efficient and effective demand and supply planning process.
  • Become a liaison between local demand consensus and Area S&OP through creation of documentations with certain details of justifications.
  • Monitor and optimize inventory levels of assigned product segments and achieving inventory goals by balancing production / supply with demand forecast.
  • Evaluate inventory reports to identify slow moving and obsolete inventories and collaborate with Commercial Team to develop appropriate action plans in a timely manner.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Analytical and logical thinking is mandatory for data and root cause analysis to perform appropriate actions.
  • Communication – Clear verbal and written communication skills with ability to effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
  • Independent – Ability to work independently.
  • Collaboration – Ability to collaborate with cross functional team and influence all levels of management.
  • Drive change – initiate and enable change to continuously improve operations in fast-moving working environment.
  • Project management- Ability to manage a project involving in different department and different levels of the organization.
  • Background training or use of standard forecasting tool (eg. SAP APO, JDA Manugistics, Mercia) or a strong analytical, statistical and IT interest.
  • PC skills (Advanced in Microsoft Excel, Intermediate in Word, and PowerPoint)
  • At least 3 years of working experience in planning related jobs. (experience of FMCG industry is preferred)
  • Business English (intermediate) required.
  • APICS or similar certification is preferable.
