The Accounting Specialist will support the Jack Black accounting function by performing routine accounting and financial administration activities. This role is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of daily sales transactions, preparation of standard journal entries, completion of assigned account reconciliations, and support of month-end close activities. 
 
The Accounting Specialist will work closely with the North America Controllership team and business partners to ensure financial transactions are recorded accurately and in accordance with company policies. This position requires strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage recurring responsibilities while responding to ad hoc requests. 
 
Accountabilities
  • Process and post daily sales transactions within Microsoft Dynamics NAV.
  • Prepare customer credit memos and other routine accounting transactions as requested.
  • Prepare and post standard journal entries under the direction of management.
  • Complete assigned balance sheet account reconciliations in BlackLine and resolve reconciling
  • items on a timely basis.
  • Support month-end and year-end close activities, ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Research transaction discrepancies and work with internal departments to obtain supporting
  • documentation.
  • Maintain organized documentation to support accounting transactions and reconciliations.
  • Assist with audit requests by gathering supporting schedules and documentation.
  • Monitor assigned accounts and escalate unusual or complex issues to management.
  • Follow established accounting procedures, internal controls, and company policies.
  • Support process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Assist with other accounting and administrative duties as assigned.
 
 
Required Education, Skills and Experience
  • Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • High school diploma required.
  • 1-3 years of accounting, bookkeeping, accounts receivable, or related experience.
  • Basic to intermediate Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
 
 
Desirable Education, Skills and Experience
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics NAV.
  • Experience with BlackLine or reconciliation software.
  • Experience processing sales transactions, credit memos, or cash receipts.
  • Experience supporting month-end close activities.
  • Familiarity with basic accounting principles and financial statements.
  • Consumer products or retail industry experience preferred.
 
Working Relationships
Will work closely with members of the North America Controllership team, Commercial Finance, Customer
Service, Sales Operations, and Global Business Services. Will also interact with internal and external
auditors as needed.
 
 
Work Environment
Ability to work additional hours during month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close periods as
needed.
 
 

The salary range for this position is $52,000-$78,000. 

 

Compensation for this position varies based on a range of equal opportunity factors, including but not limited to role scope, level of experience, relevant skills, education and credentials, external and internal benchmarks for equivalent roles and experience, business sector, and geographic location. Compensation decisions are based on the specific facts and circumstances of each case. In addition to base salary, the total rewards package may also include, for eligible roles, bonus, and long-term Incentive.
