Senior Manager - Global MDM ( Master Data Management)

Position Summary

This position is responsible for establishing global standards and procedures around master data within SAP and legacy environments to support using master data as a strategic advantage to enable application integration and leverage data as an asset.  Establishing global standards includes evaluating current master data processes, establishing a global standard for master data management, defining and implementing governance rules and tools, and leading data harmonization, rationalization and consolidation efforts.  This role is responsible for defining and successfully delivering master data cross-functional projects, while helping to manage stakeholder expectations. 

 Universal Accountabilities

  • Leads global master data strategy development and deployment for a portfolio of SAP and legacy ERP systems.  Specific areas to address include:
    • Data ownership
    • Tools and technologies to utilize for success
    • Definition of global data governance and execution plan
    • Skill/training development to support the strategy
    • Ability to accommodate acquisitions and integration of new business, brands, and systems
  • Oversees global master data risk mitigation.
  • Ensures global master data is leveraged appropriately throughout data warehousing analytic systems.  
  • Develops and delivers leadership-level master data dashboards highlighting master data “health”.
  • Manages project teams focused on improving master data harmonization and rationalization.
  • Owns relationships with external partners such as master data management solutions vendors and brings best practices into the company.
  • Acts as a core member of the Global Supply Chain Governance team to help drive and resolve broader team and business issues around global governance.


Specific Accountabilities

  • Manages a team of MDM colleagues working in SAP and legacy ERP systems.  Team members could include MDM Data Specialists, MDM Analysts, Senior MDM Analysts, and Global MDM Managers.
  • Drives harmonization and consolidation of global G2M (Go-to-Market) material authorization workbook processes.
  • May also perform additional duties as assigned


Required Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems or related field; Master’s degree or MBA preferred
  • 10+ years of relevant experience with Consumer Goods Company
  • 10+ years of SAP experience
  • 5 years of data modeling experience and building a master data solution for a larger enterprise with a global business
  • Proven leadership and influence skills. 
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a direct team and to drive change across functions through influence
  • Expertise in deploying and maintaining formal data quality, governance, security and management strategies
  • Demonstrated ability to diagnose a company’s master data needs and build an enterprise-wide capability to meet those needs
  • Deep mastery of master data management architecture within a global SAP environment
  • Strong experience in leading data integration activities through the life of a least two acquisitions and/or SAP implementations for global companies

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Experience with SAP MDM or Oracle DRM


Working Relationships

  • Key relationships will include Personal Care Global Supply Chain, IT, Commercial teams, MDM (Master Data Management) teams, Operations, Finance, Accounting, Marketing, Global Marketing, Internal and External Audit, R&D, Package Development, Procurement, 3rd Party Service Providers, and External Customers.


Work Environment

  • Requires some travel, approximately 25% of time, with approximately one-third of this being international travel
  • Frequent communication across global locations when required
