Primary Purpose of this Position:            

The purpose of this position is to provide a quality control function, including technical and analytical support for all areas of the Sidney, Ohio facility.  In addition, the personnel in this position will support continuous development of Quality Assurance systems in manufacturing and packaging areas. 

 

Essential Functions:                                       

 

  • Provide accurate and timely testing of raw materials, bulk formulations and finished goods in accordance with established Playtex procedures and work instructions and FDA and GLP minimum requirements.
  • Maintain laboratory records and documentation in accordance with GLP’s, FDA, and established EPC/Playtex standards.
  • Assure inspection and control of incoming raw materials and components for OTC products as well as finished goods.
  • Verify line end-of-shift and end-of-run reconciliation on OTC products.
  • Assemble and verify all batch records for OTC products.
  • Support implementation of Quality System to ensure Playtex Sidney is in compliance with all FDA related regulations.
  • Coordinate with lines to identify and document nonconformities; report results as required. 
  • Perform routine verification of instrument calibration and preventive maintenance on laboratory equipment.  Support calibration and verification program for testing equipment on lines.
  • Assist with training of line personnel, batching personnel and office staff as required.
  • Perform routine environmental microbiological testing.
  • Ensure that laboratory supplies are kept current and that all required supplies and chemicals are sufficiently stocked in order to provide timely service for plant.
  • Accurately prepare and document the preparation of standards, standard solutions, and other reagents as required.
  • Be a champion for quality both in the lab and in the plant
  • Maintain an effective, efficient laboratory that processes samples accurately and precisely.
  • Promote a team environment in the department and in the plant where people feel free to seek support and advice on quality matters.
  • Assure compliance with FDA OTC regulations regarding inspection and testing.
  • Interpretation and reporting of analytical data
  • Product release / rejection with approval from QC Supervisor/ QA Specialist

 

Education and Skills:

  • Minimum of 1 year experience in a science laboratory, either in college or work experience
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to systematically approach problems and develop solutions.
  • Good computer skills; working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Access) and flowcharting.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills; ability to work in team environment.
  • Skilled in the operation and maintenance of various analytical instrumentation including GC, HPLC, FTIR.
  • Bachelors degree in science or technical field or equivalent experience preferred

 

The salary range for this position is $43,000 - $60,000. Actual base salary offered to a candidate may vary based upon factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance.
