Job Title:             Electronic Technician

Location:             Sidney Ohio

Reports to:         Maintenance Supervisor

 

Primary purpose of this position:  Perform a wide variety of duties, under the direction of the Maintenance Manager.   Perform maintenance and repair of a variety of production equipment, specifically electrical and electronic troubleshooting and repair.    .  Responsible for ensuring a safe workplace while producing a quality product. 

 

Essential Functions:

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot a variety of electrical and electronic problems involving control and conventional wiring, temperature control circuits, as well as electronic circuits and equipment.
  • Troubleshoot electrical issues with PLC’s, motors, VFD’s, HMI’s, sensors, and various electronic inspection devices. 
  • Replace defective devices, modules, breakers, and circuit boards; make adjustment, and/or change fuses.
  • Set up, adjust and test operate in-house various designed control panels for machinery.  Wire and assemble limited equipment designed by engineering. Perform operating check on all equipment.
  • Make recommendations as to improvements or alterations to existing equipment or process. 
  • Read and repair ladder logic, computers for industrial equipment and associated controls and wiring.
  • Complete PM standard form after completion of jobs. Perform regular scheduled preventive maintenance duties.
  • Detect and report defective materials, faulty operations or unusual situations to Technical Group leader. 
  • Maintain tools, equipment and work area in a neat and orderly manner.
  • Inspect, operate, and test machinery and equipment to diagnose machine and system malfunctions.
  • Record type and cost of maintenance or repair work.
  • Diagnose electronic and electrical problems and determine how to correct them, checking blueprints, schematics, repair manuals, parts catalogs and other maintenance literature as necessary.
  • Be able to execute emergency procedures on facility equipment as needed, and be “on call” for off duty emergency repairs.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Follow all EPC Safety/Environmental, GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) and Lean 5S policies and regulation guidelines. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

 

Education and Experience Required:

High school diploma or equivalent

One year hands on PLC environment

Four years industrial electronics/electrical experience

Use of computer and Windows-based programs

Knowledge of SAP a plus

Knowledge of Allen Bradley PLC or similar software

Proficient troubleshooting skills in complex facility equipment

Skills and abilities:

  • Ability to follow detailed instructions.
  • Must be able to read, write and understand English, and follow verbal and written instructions
  • Ability to document and communicate effectively.
  • Self-motivated and ability to work independently.
  • Troubleshooting skills and ability to train other colleagues on troubleshooting techniques
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Project management skills with the ability to see a complex task or project through to completion.
