Position Summary:

 

The Sr Demand Planner is responsible for the total US Market forecast within their respective customers focusing on base line forecast, sales, and marketing assumptions. This role will build relationships with sales and marketing to collaborate and align on marketing and commercial intelligence and apply promotional, distribution, cannibalization, and competitive impacts to the Demand Plan forecast. The Sr Demand Planner represents demand planning and promotes its good practice and strategy with key business stakeholders. This role serves to support the Sr Demand Manager in leading all demand meetings that support the NA Integrated Business Planning Process (IBP) and subsequently the Management Business Review meeting (MBR).  This lead role will support Demand Planning initiatives related to forecasting functions and the improvement of the IBP process.

 

 

Accountabilities

 

Base / Commercial / Marketing Forecasting

  • Demand Plan: Generate and deliver the unconstrained shipment forecast to Supply Planning/Operations for a rolling 24-to-48-month period for the assigned Lines of Business (LOB).
  • This involves maintaining and managing the Master data that drives the Forecast Models and supporting systems.
  • Analyze and adjust shipment history to reflect non-repeatable events, service shortages, allocations.
  • Product Lifecycle Management – Forecast New Products, Discontinue and Phase Out Obsolete Items.
  • As a process owner balance the Marketing and Sales assumptions that contribute to the Demand Plan.
    • Marketing - collaborate on category and retail consumption trends, seasonality, competitive activity, and portfolio management related to forecast impacts.
    • Sales - collaborate on promotional forecasts, inline (finished goods) and off shelf (displays), distribution gains and losses, points of distribution, cannibalization, and new product launches (NPI).
  • Report forecast accuracy for base items, promotional features, new product introductions. Root Cause factors related to forecast error and drive actions to improve accuracy results below target.

                                                                                                                       

Collaboration with Stakeholders

  • Serve as the single point of contact between Sales, Marketing and Fulfillment.
  • Participate in all appropriate brand and commercial team meetings.
  • Validate, challenge, and align on Sales and Marketing assumptions.
  • Support customer service by providing demand information to support delivery to customers.
  • Collaborate with Sales and Marketing on SLOBs inventory goals and liquidation of inventory.
  • Focus and report on forecast gaps to Plan, Risks and Ops to Plan, key drivers and gap closing actions.

 

CoE / S&OP

  • Lead the Demand Alignment meetings to included deck preparation, key drivers for changes, gaps to plan, risks and ops, action items, demand group alignment. 
  • Ensure consensus with Sales and Marketing and sign-off of Demand Plan as output of Demand Alignment.
  • Support Demand CoE roadmap projects for forecast improvement.
  • Lead Demand Planning projects related to promotional and event forecasting and S&OP maturity.

 

Required Skills and Experience

  • 4+ years of experience in Demand Planning or Forecasting
  • BA/BS required (Supply Chain, Engineering, Mathematics, Business)
  • Aptitude and Forecasting and data software experience required (i.e., jda demand/Manugistics, SAP, PowerBI, Syndicated data/ Nielson etc.)
  • CPG experience a plus
  • Key competencies:  Business Acumen, Strategic Thinking, Influencing Others, Building Relationships
  • Intermediate to advanced skills working in Excel and PowerPoint (Microsoft Office)

 

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • MBA or MS a plus
  • Professional Certifications a plus (APICS, IBF, SCOR etc.)
