Position Summary:

The Sr. Payroll Tax & Accounting Analyst will be an integral team member of the Payroll team and must be proficient with all aspects of the Payroll Analyst duties. In this role, the successful candidate will also be responsible for leading and coordinating  all off cycle, quarter and year end payroll processing; all multi-state payroll entries and reconciliations and the preparation of agency reports not processed by third party administrators.

 

Accountabilities

  • Input and reconcile all special payroll transactions, including but not limited to equity vesting, taxable fringe benefits, personal car allowance
  • Prepare and file agency reports not processed by third party administrators
  • Review and reconcile agency reports filed by third party administrators
  • Resolve outstanding tax notices with collaboration from third party administrators and directly with local tax agencies
  • Primary department contact for internal and external audit inquiries
  • Responsible for special internal reporting, e.g., annual workers compensation audit; insurance renewals
  • Review, log and coordinate all tax authority inquiry responses with third party payroll provider
  • Prepare and coordinate month end, quarter end and year end finance reporting
  • Reconcile GL output and work with the accounting team on any posting / balancing inquiries
  • Any other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

 

Required Education, Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree with a concentration in Accounting or Business highly preferred.
  • 5+ years of general multi-state payroll processing experience to include taxes, garnishments and wage and hour laws as they pertain to the proper administration of payment of wages.

 

Desirable Education, Skills and Experience

  • Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) or Certified Payroll Certification (CPP) designation preferred
  • UKG Payroll, Kronos, SuccessFactors
  • Strong project management skills; ability to prioritize and handle several projects simultaneously while meeting tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work in a highly collaborative environment and work effectively with team members and various key stakeholders.
  • Detail oriented with strong analytical and strategic thinking skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, ability to articulate in a clear and concise manner across various levels of the organization.
  • Strong problem- solving capability using sound judgement, organizational and planning skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

 

Working Relationships

  • Key relationships internally will include HR, Controllership and Finance.  There will also be external relationships with tax agencies and payroll vendors that will need to be cultivated to ensure processes execute with excellence. 

 

Work Environment

  • Minimal travel might be required.
  • Ability to sometimes work outside of traditional business hours.

The salary range for this position is $75,000-$85,000.  Actual base salary offered to a candidate may vary based upon factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance.
