Senior Manager, Accounting Continuous Improvement

Position Summary


The Continuous Improvement Senior Manager will play a key role in the transformation of accounting activities and enterprise-wide processes improvements.  This role will be responsible for the execution of key projects within the global finance and controllership organization while and identifying solutions and maintaining compliance to key controls and U.S. GAAP reporting requirements. They will work with cross-functional teams, including Regional controllership, Finance, External Reporting, Tax and IT to identify areas for improvement, develop plans for change, and monitor progress toward goals. In addition, the Continuous Improvement Senior Manager will drive improvements and work collaboratively with a focus on simplification, standardization, and automation. A successful fit for this role should be self-motivated, proactive and able to work independently and cross-functionally.


· Accountable for the development, implementation and continuous improvement of the accounting function, processes and system standards that enable best in class performance.

· Develop action plans and processes, in coordination with management teams, for integrating activities and optimizing department resources to meet major goals and objectives. Including new policies or procedures that enhance efficiency or improve customer service.

· Lead cross-functional projects with stakeholders such as Finance, Supply Chain, IT, Tax, and Internal Audit to standardize and improve processes

· Partner with IT and Financial Systems to engage the business to deliver business process and reporting change, including training and change management

· Analyze current practices and develop business process improvements as well as implement changes in workflows to ensure continuous company performance.

· Create a culture of improvement by encouraging employees to identify problems and solutions.

· Review statistical data on business performance to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.

· Evaluate and monitor all process controls to ensure compliance with SOX. Included the industry best practices assessment and drive process improvement opportunities.

· Provide direct oversight to outsource provider to ensure processes are being appropriately followed and issues resolved in a timely manner.

· Function as Subject Matter Expert for Accounting and Finance functions in support of system changes and enhancements.

· Evaluate industry best practices and champions the development of new automation and/or process improvements. 

· Assists with system integrations and/or M&A accounting integration projects on an as needed basis with buy in from functional business partners, peers, and business leadership. 

· All other duties and special projects as assigned

Required Education, Skills, and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited College with a concentration in accounting or finance.
  • 7+ years of relevant experience.

· Strong project management skills: demonstrated ability to prioritize and handle several projects simultaneously while meeting tight deadlines.

· Preferred knowledge of the Consumer Product Goods Industry.

· Demonstrated understanding of US GAAP and knowledge of SOX controls.

In-depth knowledge and experience working with SAP WP1 and OTC modules, preferably with S4/Hana version.

Desirable Education, Skills and Experience 

· Master’s degree in accounting or finance.

· Big 4 public accounting experience a plus.

· Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification a plus.

· People management experience is highly preferred.

· Ability to influence without direct authority.

· Commitment to process improvement and optimization (i.e., suggesting alternatives and more effective/efficient ways to work).

· Self-motivated and goal-oriented; ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

· Strong interpersonal skills: the ability to work in a highly collaborative environment and work effectively with team members and various key stakeholders.

· Detail-oriented with strong analytical and strategic thinking skills.

· Ability to work in a fast-paced and matrixed environment.

· Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, ability to articulate in a clear and concise manner across various levels of the organization.

· Must demonstrate excellent problem-solving, sound judgment, organizational and planning skills.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).


Working Relationships

  • Will work with cross-functional team members in Operations, Supply Chain, Finance, IT, Commercial, and Internal Audit.
  • External engagement will include external Audit and members of our 3rd party outsource team.  

Work Environment

  • Ability to work outside of standard business hours as needed. 
  • Some travel is possible. 



The salary range for this position is $120,000- 180,000. The actual base salary offered to a candidate may vary based upon factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance.
