Position Summary:

The Chief Accounting Officer is the leader of the Company’s accounting, business processes and external reporting functions, responsible for ensuring timely, accurate financial statement preparation and external reporting (10 Q’s and 10 K’s), and the maintenance of a strong, effective control environment across the enterprise.  This role is responsible for the day to day accounting activities of the organization, ensuring strong and consistent adherence to Edgewell accounting policies and US GAAP.  Importantly, this role maintains operational responsibilities for all core financial global business processes (OTC, P2P, etc) and direct oversight for the 3rd party service provider.  The Chief Accounting Officer oversees all annual audits and quarterly reviews, and maintains a strong working relationship with the external auditors and Audit Committee.  Finally, this role is a critical Leader within the organization, with responsibility for leading over 100 globally dispersed teammates and plays an important role on the Finance Leadership Team (FLT).  




  • Accounting expertise – Technical voice on all accounting matters, ensuring appropriate implementation of all technical guidelines (including authoring technical accounting memos) and strict adherence to company accounting policy.  In particular, the role is responsible for pension accounting, stock-based compensation, goodwill impairment testing and revenue recognition and evaluation of reserves and provisions.
  • Business process excellence – Global ownership for core financial business processes (e.g. OTC, P2P, R2R), ensuring effective and efficient operations, best-in-class performance and productivity and consistent global applications (in an SAP environment) in support of strong month-end, quarter-end and year-end close processes.  This also requires strong management and oversight of our 3rd party shared-service provider.
  • SEC reporting – Accountable for the company’s external reporting (e.g. 10Q’s and 10K), including internal legal entity consolidation and review. 
  • Leadership – Developing, leading and motivating a globally dispersed group of over 100 Edgewell teammates, establishing an accountable, high performing and motivated organization that aligns with the company’s Purpose, Values and Behaviors.
  • Special Projects – Leading special projects, including acquisition diligence and integration; process improvement initiatives; SAP implementation efforts.

Required Education, Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • Active CPA license
  • 15-20+ years of related experience, with demonstrated experience leading global accounting functions and SEC reporting teams at a public company
  • Experience leading operational accounting teams, ideally in a global/centralized shared service operating model (with a 3rd party provider)
  • Demonstrated capabilities in assessing business processes, identifying complexities/weaknesses and designing and implementing solutions that drive increased productivity and efficiency
  • Technical accounting proficiency across US GAAP and IFRS
  • An accomplished leader, with experience leading globally dispersed organizations, with a track record of developing talent, inspiring and motivating teammates and achieving results
  • Experience operating in an SAP environment
  • Strong integrity and judgment
