POSITION SUMMARY:

The Quality Engineer position manages the work of suppliers to ensure that adequate controls are in place to confirm that raw materials comply with established requirements.  The Quality Engineer will conduct audits as required at/with suppliers and report results.  The Quality Engineer position will have responsibilities for business continuity, cost savings projects and supplier support for raw materials including, but not limited to investigations and ensuring all required documentation is sent to the suppliers.  The Quality Engineer will also hold responsibility for the Annual Product Review system and will own the REES monitoring system.  The Quality Engineer will have responsibilities for continuous improvement initiatives within the Ormond Beach, FL manufacturing plant. 

 

This opportunity requires daily on-site presence at the facility. 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Ensure the effective and timely closure of Supplier Corrective Actions and Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) investigations.
  • Participate in the supplier qualification process and ensure that Quality Agreements are established and in place with suppliers and service providers.
  • Support inhouse manufacturing and costumer complaint issues related to supplier materials and components.
  • Support Operations team with issues at the supplier impacting quality and shipping performance.
  • Use advanced statistics and Quality Engineering tools (i.e. FMEA, DOE, SPC and MSA) to solve complex problems.
  • Ability to act as a single point of contact between suppliers and EPC on issues related to quality performance.
  • Ownership of the Annual Product Review program including running statistical analysis, compiling reports and collecting input and data from other team members to make recommendations for improvements
  • Ownership of the REES Temperature and Humidity Monitoring System
  • Continuous Improvement projects that will benefit the Ormond Beach manufacturing plant
  • Ability to facilitate a cross-functional team to resolve quality issues including suppliers, R&D, procurement, planning and operations.
  • Ability to review and approve nonconformance reports, failure investigations and deviations. 
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Required Skills and Experience

  • Bachelors Degree in Chemical Engineering or related field from an accredited institution.
  • Knowledge of Process Control Plans and process FMEA required.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills.
  • General knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and their application.
  • Excellent computer skills – working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Minitab.
  • Problem solving skills, including root cause analysis.

 

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Knowledge of Advanced Product Quality Process highly preferred.
  • Two years minimum experience working in a manufacturing environment in a quality related field.
  • ASQ CQE/CQA certification or Six Sigma Green Belt preferred.
  • QC laboratory experience a plus.
  • Advanced statistics preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience with 21 CFR 820 and/or 21 CFR 210/211 a plus.

  • Edgewell teammates, contractors, suppliers and regulatory agencies.

 

Work Environment

  • Travel may be required for training, visiting suppliers, etc.
  • Work on night shifts and weekends may be required.

QUALITY ASSURANCE RESPONSBILITIES:

    • Colleagues are responsible for their own quality and that of colleagues within their span of control.
    • Colleagues are responsible to follow all established Quality procedures and instructions.
    • Notify supervision for corrective action if and when defects are found and/or parts/processes do not conform to specifications.

The salary range for this position is $68,000 - $102,000. Actual base salary offered to a candidate may vary based upon factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance.
