Position Summary

Performs Production Planning and Scheduling activities for finished goods and subassembly processes.  Provides detailed production planning schedules to support the production plan and supply chain commitments.  Perform tasks in support of achieving the highest level of customer service at an optimum cost, additionally managing the production plan to optimize manufacturing service efficiency.


Essential Functions

  • Participates in daily/weekly/monthly production meetings. Adjusts schedules based on material, labor, or other capacity constraints, manufacturing strategy or service level objectives.
  • Optimizes production scheduling to meet customer demands and fulfillment goals, tracks schedule vs. actual.
  • Responsible for schedule/sequencing accuracy/prioritization and for monitoring delivery performance and schedule/sequencing adherence
  • Develops scenarios, analytical data models to understand or report on capacity, production trends, schedule adherence, production linearity, market level, etc. as needed.
  • Uses time effectively and efficiently; concentrates on working multiple projects to a successful end.
  • Manages backorders and outages, determines the root cause, develops corrective action of any outages and communicates appropriately
  • Supports lean strategies for improving operations and optimizes inventory to deliver reduced product cost, improve quality, minimize waste and drive down cycle times
  • Performs routine data entry as required to maintain master data and complete daily tasks. 
  • Ensures that all materials are available with respect to releasing work orders and departments are scheduled to allow manufacturing to run in the most efficient manner
  • Assembles resources (people, material, support) to get things done. Can orchestrate multiple activities at once to accomplish a goal. Uses resources effectively and efficiently.
  • Provides cross training within the department.
  • Manage activities to achieve short term goals consistent with long term objectives.
  • Ability to be a back-up to others within the department.
  • Assisting in the inventory accuracy process including administering cycle counts and research discrepancies.
  • Ability to thoroughly understand the concepts of inventory flow throughout the supply chain process.
  • Ability to build effective relationships with internal colleagues, suppliers and customers
  • Supports lean strategies for improving operations and optimizes inventory to deliver reduced product cost, improve quality, minimize waste and drive down cycle times
  • Responsible for meeting the quality, safety and productivity targets within the work area.
  • Perform any additional job-related duties as requested.


Required Skills and Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years’ years relevant supply chain or operations experience  
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting or a related field or equivalent experience. Minimum of high school diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
  • Able to create documents, spreadsheets, graphs, presentations, project schedules. Knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Access, Visio) skills.
  • Understanding of MRP systems and SAP experience.
  • Able to solve problems/drive projects with increasingly ambiguous information or possible outcomes.
  • Ability to use lean tools such as Kanban’s, pull systems, value stream mapping, etc preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills to make quantitative projections/recommendations.

  • Some travel may be required for training, etc.
  • Work on night shifts and weekends may required.
