Position Summary
Maintains facility systems, which includes process water systems, boilers and coordinates wastewater disposal from the facility. Also maintains the fire protection system. Serve as backup for the Facilities & Environmental Compliance Supervisor. Responsible for ensuring a safe workplace while producing a quality product.
Essential Functions
- Perform sampling and transfers of bulk raw materials such as mineral oil, ethanol alcohol, isobutane and waste water.
- Perform inspections with proper documentation on a daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly basis.
- Collect wastewater samples and record observations.
- Maintain waste water storage area.
- Be a member of the facility emergency response team, and an active member of facility spill prevention team.
- Maintain and perform routine preventative maintenance to waste water systems
- Add chemicals such as acids and bases to maintain facility waste water pretreatment system.
- Inspect equipment or monitor operating conditions, meters, and gauges to determine load requirements and detect malfunctions.
- Collect and test incoming water, stormwater, and wastewater samples, using test equipment, outside environmental labs, etc.
- Record operational data, meter and gauge readings on specified forms.
- Operate and adjust controls on equipment to purify and clarify water, process or dispose of wastewater.
- Maintain, repair, and lubricate equipment, using hand tools and power tools.
- Clean and maintain tanks, filter beds, and other work areas using hand tools and power tools.
- Direct and coordinate plant colleagues or contractors engaged in routine operations and maintenance activities.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Be able to coordinate and communicate with local, state and federal governmental agencies.
- Follow all EPC Safety/Environmental, GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) and Lean 5S policies and regulation guidelines.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Experience
- High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
- At least 3 years of previous work-related experience is preferred
- Mechanical background in preventative maintenance preferred.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and be detailed oriented.
- Must be able to read, write and understand English, and follow verbal and written instructions
- Be able to lift 50 lbs.
- Basic math and computer skills, and working knowledge of Microsoft Office, SharePoint and SAP
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to obtain certification to safely operate mobile equipment (fork truck, etc.)
- Must have valid driver’s license
- Ability to document and communicate effectively
- Good eye-hand coordination

Work Environment
- Work on night shifts and weekends may be required.
- Ability to work a 8+ hour shift standing, bending, and reaching.
- Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled environment (maybe above 30 ambient degrees or below 20 ambient degrees in areas of production).
- Fast-paced, high-speed manufacturing environment.
Environmental, Health & Safety Responsibilities
- Exposure to health risks or conditions that may require the use of Personal Protective Equipment.
- Be aware of and follow the Environmental Policy and EH&S work instructions/procedures that apply to the job.
- Perform every job safely, for the benefit of self, co-workers, contractors, and for the protection of facilities. This includes the use of required personal protective equipment and use of safety equipment as well as safe work practices.
- Immediately report every job-related injury or illness, regardless of severity, to a supervisor.
- Assist in investigating incidents.
- Take necessary actions to correct or stop any unsafe conditions or practices.
- Actively participate in safety meetings and training.
- Review Material Data Sheet instructions before working with any chemical product.
Quality Assurance Responsibilities
- Teammates are responsible for their own quality and that of teammates within their span of control.
- Teammates are responsible for following all established Quality procedures and instructions.
- Notify supervision for corrective action if defects are found and/or parts/processes do not conform to specifications.
