Primary Purpose of this Position:

Install, maintain, and troubleshoot electrical and automation systems to support production operations, maintain production lines, and ensure equipment reliability. Provide engineering support for the installation, layout design, fabrication, and debugging and commissioning of systems based on PLCs and other industrial controls. Execute projects, drive continuous improvement, enhance safety, and reduce downtime to optimize overall production efficiency.


Essential Functions

1) Support Operations & Solve Problems

  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical and automation systems, including PLCs, HMIs, sensors, and inspection systems.
  • Test circuits and equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation.
  • Diagnose root causes of system or equipment malfunctions and implement corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with operators, engineering teams, and vendors to quickly resolve production issues and update equipment with suitable replacement parts.
  • Use PLCs, primarily Allen-Bradley / Rockwell platforms, for troubleshooting and system diagnostics.

 

2) Maintain Production Lines & Improve Capability

  • Adjust, calibrate, and maintain industrial sensors (photoelectric, proximity, encoders, etc.) to ensure process reliability.
  • Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and required adjustments, ensuring compliance with codes and company standards.
  • Perform preventive maintenance to sustain production capability and reduce unplanned downtime.
  • Facilitate effective shift-to-shift communication with colleagues.

 

3) Execute Projects & Improve Performance

  • Support projects to implement or upgrade automation and control systems by executing installations according to specifications, codes, and operational requirements.
  • Use hand and power tools, measuring devices, and diagnostic equipment to execute projects efficiently.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to increase machine performance, efficiency, and operational safety.
  • Assist the parts department in maintaining adequate inventory of electronic components and performing necessary shop repairs.

  • Maintain the work area in safe condition by ensuring it is clean and orderly.

Education

  • Training in vocational schools, technical certification, an associate's degree, or related on-the-job experience.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as an Electronic Technician or equivalent education in the field.
  • Experience in a Manufacturing Operation is highly desired. Knowledge of basic manufacturing principles, and electrical troubleshooting required
  • Experience with Allen-Bradley PLCs

Other Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • This position requires working the night shift, 3:30 PM to 2:30 AM, on a weekly basis to support production operations.
  • Able to work from schematics, sketches, written and verbal instructions, and able to efficiently complete assignments in a timely manner under a minimum supervision. 
  • Proficient in utilizing electrical (480V & under)/electronic test equipment for the purposes of debugging and repairing solid state equipment control (digital logic) systems.
  • Hands-on experience with hardware installation, including wiring sensors, actuators, control panels, and automation components.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and maintain high attention to detail.
  • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Commitment to work safety and adherence to plant safety procedures.
