Position Summary

 

Coordinates the flow of work and materials within or between the departments according to production schedule.  Plan Raw/Packaging materials used in the manufacturing process. Analyze and adjust inventory levels to minimize Inventory Investment while supporting Production Plan.  The planner is responsible for insuring all components and materials are properly charged to orders supporting the production process.  Processes transactions and build reports in support of plant inventory, production and cost needs.

 

Essential Functions

  • Participates in daily/weekly/monthly production planning meetings.
  • Assist in the optimizing of the scheduling to meet customer demands and fulfillment goals, tracks schedule vs. actual.
  • Daily Review of Materials to support the Production Plan. Monitor Delivery dates, daily communications with stakeholders. 
  • Performs routine data entry as required to maintain master data and complete daily tasks. 
  • Ensures all materials are available with respect to releasing work orders and departments are scheduled to allow manufacturing to run in the most efficient manner
  • Actively participates in maintaining the accuracy of inventory and manufacturing orders.
  • Ability to be a back-up to other functions within the department.
  • Ability to thoroughly understand the concepts of inventory flow throughout the supply chain process.
  • Ability to build effective relationships with internal colleagues, suppliers and customers
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to identify errors and issues and recommend solutions
  • Ability to read and interpret procedure and instruction manuals
  • Ability to meet deadlines while delivering high quality work and services.
  • Supports lean strategies for improving operations and optimizes inventory to deliver reduced product cost, improve quality, minimize waste and drive down cycle times
  • Responsible for the spending and manufacturing variances within work area.
  • Responsible for meeting the quality, safety and productivity targets within the work area.
  • Perform any additional job-related duties as requested.

 

 

Required Skills and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Minimum of 2 years’ manufacturing experience. FDA regulated environment preferred.  

Preferred Skills

  • Strong understanding of MRP systems and SAP experience.
  • Strong analytical skills to make quantitative projections/recommendations.
  • Working knowledge of MS office suites, e-mail and internet applications.
  • Ability to interface with all colleagues at all levels.

Working Relationships

  • Site personnel, contractors and regulatory agencies

Work Environment

  • Some travel may be required for training, etc.
  • Work on night shifts and weekends may be required to support business needs.
  • Exposure to health risks or conditions that may require the use of Personal Protective Equipment.
