Position Summary: The Senior Manager of Promotion Optimization is responsible for leading the development, execution, and continuous improvement of trade promotion strategies that drive profitable growth. This role will analyze performance, optimize spend, and guide investment decisions through data-driven insights in close partnership with Sales, Finance, Marketing, and Revenue Growth Management (RGM).

Responsibilities & Assignments:

Promotion Strategy & Planning

  • Develop frameworks and guardrails for effective trade promotion planning aligned with brand, customer, and financial objectives.
  • Lead post-event analysis to identify ROI improvement opportunities across key customers and brands.
  • Partner with brand and sales teams to design optimal promotional calendars.

 Optimization & Analytics

  • Leverage advanced analytics, tools, and predictive models (e.g., TPO software) to recommend more effective promotional tactics.
  • Drive continuous improvement in promotional ROI, efficiency, and volume lift.
  • Provide scenario planning to support annual planning and ad hoc business needs.

Stakeholder Collaboration & Enablement

  • Work closely with Sales teams to embed optimization insights into joint business planning and customer sell-in.
  • Partner with Marketing and Finance to align promotion plans with brand strategy and P&L targets.
  • Deliver clear, actionable guidance to field teams through training, tools, and playbooks.

  Governance & Process Improvement

  • Define and uphold promotion investment guardrails by channel and customer.
  • Lead standardization of promotion evaluation methodologies and reporting.
  • Own governance for trade investment decision rights and escalation paths.

 

Required Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Marketing, or related field; MBA preferred
  • 7+ years of experience in CPG sales, trade marketing, RGM, or category management
  • Strong analytical skills with experience in trade promotion analytics, TPM/TPO systems (e.g., Nielsen, AFS, CAS, Blacksmith)
  • Proven ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders
  • Excellent communication and storytelling skills
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking and bias for action

Work Environment

  • Travel - less than 10%
  • Position may require sitting at desk for long periods of time
  • The position is a hybrid role based out of NYC.
  • Teammates are expected to be in the office 2x a week

The salary range for this position is $144,000 - 216,000. Actual base salary offered to a candidate may vary based upon factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance.
