Edgewell Personal Care’s (EPC) is seeking a project-based freelance Creative Director for our Sun brands, with initial focus on Banana Boat - the #1 Suncare brand.  The freelance Creative Director will work closely with our Sun Marketing/Brand teams, as well as EPC’s in-house creative team and external creative agencies, to further develop the creative strategy for Banana Boat.  The ideal candidate will have a wealth of experience developing breakthrough and culturally impactful creative, and a passion for reinventing established brands.


  • Lead the long term creative direction and evolution of Banana Boat by articulating and developing a strong vision for the brand that positions it competitively, and establishes its place in culture.  Vision to include creative positioning of new technologies, and/or targeting key audiences.
  • Provide thought leadership & best-in-class creative campaign ideation that feels fresh, brave, ownable and highly shareable.
  • Own the full articulation of creative ideas and overarching presentation narrative, from idea write-ups through to specific executions, ensuring clarity, an exceptional level of craft and strong command of the brand’s ethos and tone.
  • Evolve the brand book and architecture (visual ID/voice) as necessary.
  • Consult with the social team on any creative guardrails/parameters needed for creator/influencer content (e.g. social video).
  • Direct creative projects related to the above, ranging from product and packaging to digital content.  Select and direct outside creative resources on a project basis.
  • Collaborate successfully with brand team leadership and in-house creative partners to elevate the overall creative output for the brand.





  • 10+ years of creative experience at an in-house brand or agency
  • Successful track record of developing groundbreaking creative strategy and campaigns via culturally relevant, insight-driven ideas
  • Original thinker and a strong storyteller with a passion for developing creative that disrupts, inspires and resonates deeply
  • Strong, dynamic portfolio that demonstrates your creative vision and aesthetic and your ability to elevate a brand across a wide range of platforms. 
  • Passion for reinventing tried and true brands
  • A strong command of language and visual design
  • An in-depth understanding of pop culture and the cultural zeitgeist; by having an understanding of culture, you know what makes content engaging and how to drive action with our audience
  • A collaborative approach to ideation, brainstorming and partnering with other members of the team


The hourly rate for this position is $150+ per hour. The actual base salary offered to a candidate may vary based upon factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, the base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance.
