Our portfolio of over 25 brands touches lives in more than 50 countries by making useful things joyful. Launched in 2017, Billie is an award-winning shave and hair revmoal brand that was built to champion womankind. We’re committed to a working environment that welcomes, empowers and celebrates all of our team members' unique identities.

Reporting directly to the VP of Product Innovation & Marketing, the Director will play a critical leadership role in defining and delivering Billie’s product innovation strategy and overall product portfolio. This person will own the product innovation roadmap from consumer and market opportunity identification through commercialization, ensuring Billie continues to deliver differentiated, high-quality products that strengthen the brand and drive the business forward.  The role is hybrid with 3 days per week in the NYC office.

The Director will lead cross-functional teams across Product Development, R&D, Brand, Marketing, Sales, Operations, and external partners to bring breakthrough innovation and meaningful product renovations to market. This role requires a strategic thinker and strong people leader who can move seamlessly between big-picture portfolio strategy and the details required to bring exceptional physical products to life.

What you’ll do:

  • Own Billie’s product innovation roadmap and portfolio strategy, identifying opportunities for new products, product renovations, and portfolio expansion based on consumer needs, market dynamics, competitive intelligence, and business priorities
  • Translate Billie’s brand vision and business strategy into a clear product innovation strategy, establishing priorities, investment areas, and a pipeline of differentiated concepts
  • Lead the end-to-end product development process from opportunity identification and concept development through commercialization, establishing clear milestones, decision points, and accountability across cross-functional teams
  • Develop and champion compelling product concepts and innovation platforms that articulate the consumer need, product proposition, competitive differentiation, business opportunity, and connection to the Billie brand
  • Act as a senior product leader and subject matter expert, bring a sophisticated understanding of beauty, personal care, consumer behavior, product technology, formulation, packaging, manufacturing, and emerging trends
  • Partner closely with Brand, Marketing, Sales, R&D, Operations, Finance, and external manufacturing partners to align teams around priorities, make strategic trade-offs, and drive successful commercialization
  • Lead and develop the Product Innovation team, establishing clear goals, fostering strong cross-functional relationships, and creating a culture of ownership, innovation, and high-quality execution
  • Build and maintain relationships with key external partners, manufacturers, suppliers, R&D teams, testing partners, and technology providers, ensuring Billie has the capabilities and partnerships required to deliver its innovation pipeline
  • Oversee product testing, competitive benchmarking, consumer/panel testing, clinical testing, and product validation, using insights to make informed go/no-go and product optimization decisions
  • Partner with Consumer Insights, Brand and leadership to develop clear product positioning, messaging, and go-to-market strategies that translate product innovation into compelling consumer stories that are grounded in consumer insights.
  • Own product economics across the innovation pipeline, including Cost of Goods, target costing, margin considerations, and key investment decisions; proactively identify risks and opportunities and drive solutions with cross-functional partners
  • Coach, mentor, and develop talent within the Product Innovation organization and help build a high-performing, scalable team
  • Maintain a strong pulse on the competitive landscape and ensure Billie’s products remain relevant, differentiated, elevated, and ahead of where the category is going

What we’re looking for:

  • 8+ years of experience in product innovation, product development, product marketing, or a related discipline, preferably within beauty, personal care, or CPG
  • Proven leadership experience managing teams and leading complex, cross-functional product portfolios from strategy through commercialization
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute an innovation strategy, not simply manage individual product launches
  • Strong strategic and commercial acumen, with the ability to connect consumer insights, market opportunities, product strategy, and business objectives
  • Deep expertise in physical product development and a sophisticated understanding of formulation, packaging, manufacturing, testing, quality, and commercialization
  • Exceptional product taste and judgment, with a highly discerning eye for product quality, aesthetics, functionality, consumer experience, and competitive differentiation
  • Strong understanding of consumer trends, competitive landscapes, emerging technologies, and innovation within beauty and personal care
  • Demonstrated ability to manage product economics, Cost of Goods, margin considerations, and development trade-offs
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence senior leaders, align cross-functional stakeholders, and advocate for product decisions
  • Experience managing and developing high-performing teams, with a leadership style that balances strategic direction, empowerment, accountability, and collaboration
  • Proven ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment, navigate ambiguity, and make decisions with imperfect information
  • A passion for building innovative, beautiful, and highly differentiated products that consumers genuinely want to use
  • A high degree of ownership, curiosity, and entrepreneurial spirit, with the ability to identify opportunities, build conviction, and mobilize teams to bring ideas to life
