Position Summary

  • BU Finance lead will provide dedicated financial and business support to enable decision making that helps drive and accelerate BU performance.  This role will be the lead finance business partner to the GM of the Canada BU and work in partnership with NA finance team providing support in understanding financial results and the development of their financial plans/forecasts supported by comprehensive financial analysis.   This analysis will enable BU leaders to make decisions across their businesses that will: a) increase revenues, market share and penetration, b) reduce costs c) drive efficiency and effectiveness of commercial spend and d) maximize profitability.
  • In this role you will be expected to sharpen business and financial insights, lead financial conversations around business performance drivers and near-term outlook, provide thought leadership around key financial strategies and help the organization achieve both short term and longer-term strategic and operational objectives. 
    • Own all Canada LOB P&Ls from GS to OP along with relevant balance sheet areas impacting the P&L
    • Lead financial planning, forecasting, analytical and business decision support to the commercial team
    • Develop analysis and methods that provide financial management of volume forecasting, trade spending, and promotion evaluation  
    • Business partner to marketing and sales strategy team to plan and forecast results as well as identify opportunities to improve operating profit
    • Provide financial leadership and function as a core member of the BU leadership team
    • Key member of the Canada SLT



  • Lead the Annual Business Plan and the financial quarterly forecasts for the commercial team
  • Partner with cross-functional teammates to drive an effective and efficient MBR (S&OP)
  • Co-Develop and maintain financial tools and reporting systems to support commercial planning and forecasting efforts – Co-led  with NA Operations
  • Manage the P&L and optimize working capital for the BU and support the business by identifying opportunities to maximize Gross Margin% improvements, ROI, and working capital management
  • Partners with BU, NA finance and Global Finance on the development of the strategic and annual operating plans including the evaluation and coordination of all submissions and reports to Senior Management 
  • Lead Customer and Brand teams during business planning by providing financial and business analysis 
  • Collaborates with marketing innovation lead to ensure NPDs are in line with BU and NA strategy
  • Facilitate organizational growth and development by identifying developmental opportunities and providing developmental feedback 
  • Manage and develop finance analysts
  • Highly informed of Trade Spend funds to optimize ROI and ensure financial objectives are met align with NA operations team on management. Work with BU to assess effectiveness of spend
  • Provide financial leadership on productivity and continuous improvement initiatives
  • In collaboration with the Senior Director and Global Finance, develop and provide marketing spend analytics and ROI to drive spend optimization



Required Education, Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance  
  • 8-10 years of experience of financial analysis skills (P&L and Working Capital) 
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel and Power Point
  • Excellent written and oral skills 
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external business partners 
  • Detail oriented mindset yet possesses ability to assess issues and provide high level business insight without relying on 'bottoms up' analysis 
  • Continuous improvement mindset with demonstrated ability to identify and implement process improvements to eliminate non-value added work  
  • Ability to interpret key market indicators (e.g., market share, competitor actions), to assess impact on brands and opportunistically develop/support strategies to strengthen brand position in market       
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced and changing environment  
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize based on business strategies and objectives 


Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Experience in the CPG industry preferred
  • MBA degree preferred
  • Additional certifications preferred e.g. CPA, CMA
  • Hyperion Planning experience preferred
