POSITION SUMMARY:

A key member of the Blade technology team, partnering with Advanced Concept Development, Metallurgical, Architectural … and operations to deliver the next generation coating.  This role is involved in the investigation and implementation of new coating technologies to enhance the performance of our blades worldwide. 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Responsible for investigating, developing and applying new thin film processes and technologies which will improve razor blade and shave system performance.
  • Acquires proficiency in blade testing protocol and develops new methodology to correlate lab performance and measurements to actual shave performance.
  • Provides worldwide and local technical support to Research, Engineering, Manufacturing and Quality Control in areas of professional expertise.
  • Researches and recommends specifications for blade making processes and products.
  • Conducts knowledge seeking investigations and experiments in areas of thin film technology and performance testing.
  • Directs and executes research programs in related areas of expertise and applies considerable fundamental and specialized knowledge of science to the planning and development of the research programs.
  • Actively maintains a watching brief of the latest technological developments in areas of expertise.
  • Skilled in operation and maintenance of associated laboratory instrumentation.
  • Evaluates competitive products and technologies.
  • Provides technical updates on the progress of programs and recommends course of action.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

 

Required:

  • MS/PhD in Engineering or the physical sciences
  • At least 5 years’ experience in thin film technology

 

Desirable:

  • Strong interest in hands-on development work in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in high volume manufacturing
  • Mechanical testing
  • DOE design and statistical methods
  • Experience using a scanning electron microscope and an atomic force microscope
