POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for formulating and facilitating the development of Innovative products, line extensions, and product improvements in shaving / skin care products in accordance with company objectives.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Develop new and revised formulations (shaving and skin care products) to meet marketing plans and regulatory requirements as well as fueling innovation for new opportunities
  • Design and implement sound scientific studies to develop and reformulate products from bench to launch
  • Manage multiple projects/timelines and develop contingency options
  • Plan and execute relevant testing, analyze and summarize data with proper statistical methods, draw relevant conclusions, recommend appropriate next steps and write cohesive technical reports
  • Document and interpret data to effectively advance projects
  • Prepare and present effective presentations on project development
  • Present research study and investigation (ideation, technical research, prototype, development etc.) in a timely manner to R&D leadership that is coherent and accurately reflects the results
  • Effectively manage project interface with Marketing and other external groups
  • Identify and maintain external partnerships to develop novel technology and conceptual ideas on new product programs
  • Work with Consumer Insights group to proactively integrate consumer understanding into product development
  • Review competitive technical strategies and provide insight into benchmarking initiatives
  • Contribute continuous improvement ideas in the areas of innovation, best practices, and quality
  • Represent company at technical or industry functions

 

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or other relevant science
  • A minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience
  • Strong knowledge of basic organic chemistry

 

DESIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • M.S. or Ph.D. degree in Chemistry
  • Strong knowledge of Organic / Polymer Chemistry
  • Strong knowledge of essential lab equipment and procedures.
  • Experience with microscopes, viscometers, pH meters, and lab scale mixers.
  • Experience in formulating shave / skin care products is a plus.
  • Knowledge of raw material functions and properties used in the cosmetic industry is a plus.
  • Experience working in a GMP facility.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and complete projects on time.
  • Practical background in statistical evaluations.
  • Excellent verbal / written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to interface with internal and external contacts at all levels.
  • Excellent organizational, prioritizing and follow up skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks / projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to think and act independently and make sound decisions.
  • Ability to work well independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Knowledge of patent art, and the ability to read, understand and explain patents is a plus.
  • Ability to travel. The position may require travel to contract manufacturing sites, vendors, industry meetings, and external seminars.

  • Review Material Data Sheet instructions before working with any chemical product.

 

QUALITY ASSURANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Teammates are responsible for their own quality and that of teammates within their span of control. 
  • Teammates are responsible to follow all established Quality procedures and instructions. 
  • Notify supervision for corrective action if and when defects are found and/or parts/processes do not conform to specifications.

 

The salary range for this position is $84,000 - $126,000. The actual base salary offered to a candidate may vary based upon factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance.
