Assignment Length: January 2020 - August 2020

Position Summary

As a Reliability Engineering Co-Op you will work directly with Product and Manufacturing Engineers to develop and validate new designs and processes for high-volume systems; your efforts will contribute to delivering world-class product by optimizing features, performance and quality.  Throughout this assignment, you will gain direct exposure with consumer products and the related design and manufacturing processes.


  • Assist or lead in the resolution of complex problem design or manufacturing situations/concerns
  • Conduct engineering analyses, develop conclusions and publish technical reports
  • Partner with Reliability or Development Engineers on product and process improvements/efficiencies
  • Apply failure mode avoidance methods to optimize designs and achieve desired product performance
  • Design for robustness and reliability
  • Participate in Product Design and Technical Design Reviews
  • Develop and execute product testing, using state-of-the-art instrumentation, develop test reports
  • Conduct or participate in gauge and fixture design, qualification and implementation
  • Design, conduct and analyze engineering experiments
  • Gain exposure to sophisticated tooling and automation in high speed molding, assembly and packaging
  • Manage a wide-range of simultaneous assignments and projects, often for different engineers or teams; demonstrate effective collaboration and time-management skills
  • Demonstrate initiative that leads to optimizing your co-op experience; seeking out challenging assignments, asking questions that help develop or reinforce your fundamental engineering knowledge and further develop your interpersonal strengths
  • Present a summary of your experiences and their benefits, including process improvement opportunities, at program’s end


Required Skills and Experience

  • Junior or Senior Mechanical, Plastics or Bio-Mechanical Engineering student pursing Bachelor's Degree


Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Pro/Engineer or SolidWorks experience
  • Minitab experience
  • Experience in a manufacturing and/or product development environment
  • Some demonstration of project or group leadership
  • Knowledge of basic statistics
  • Ability to effectively work in groups and independently
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Proficient in Windows applications
