The primary responsibility is to the production operation of injection molding machines within the Molding Department. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: component quality, machine operation, molding processing, mold start-up, installation and removal of molds, and administrative responsibilities when the production team leader isn't available or on site.




  • Inspect and perform material handling; perform mold preparation; setup molding equipment and auxiliary equipment.
  • Demonstrate machine operating skills, maintain quality standards and perform first and last piece inspections.
  • Understand Control Plans and Defect Criteria.
  • Mentally and physically pay attention to detecting jams, defective material or improper seating of parts in fixtures, recognizing and operating difficulties, and making corrections utilizing standard operating procedures as needed.
  • Maintain and check on operations and colleagues to insure constant supply of parts, material and high quality levels at all times to avoid delays in production requirements.
  • Backlog production when quality defect is found to assure outgoing quality level.
  • Possess troubleshooting skills and a mechanical aptitude; perform and process troubleshooting.
  • Be tow motor/lockout/tagout certified.
  • Check mold safeties; clean molds, complete paperwork; cavity recovery.
  • Maintain part containment systems and processing skills.
  • Train other setup technicians; participate in organized manufacturing process improvement events.
  • Monitor the production floor, control staffing issues, proactive in the area of productivity and

scrap requirements, downtime and processing issues.

  • Maintain low inventory levels on the floor, maintain housekeeping and safety requirements.
  • Monitor and verify all SDN' s written for accuracy and completeness.


  • Monitor ship out location to verify daily ship out locations and transactions are accurate. Make necessary adjustments to achieve this requirement.
  • Relieve on the floor as needed to provide machine coverage during all breaks.
  • Coach all colleagues as needed. Provide conflict resolution by being the first layer of this process.
  • Document and provide to supervision as needed.
  • Administrative requirements, filling out daily attendance log sheets for crewmembers and

providing O/T coverage needs per area coverage sheet. Maintain O/T log sheets per company policy.

  • Provide leadership to the crewmembers that need resources for the machines. Provide timely reaction period to units that are not meeting department goals.
  • Maintain authority during conversation with knowledge and surety of subject matter.
  • Provide and maintain a high respect level of yourself and all colleagues.




  • Some travel may be required to perform cycle counting and inventory reconciliation within 3rd party storage locations, as needed.
  • Some work outside of normal 1st shift operations may be required to support training or other project initiatives within the operations departments.



  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • A mechanical aptitude test may be administered.
  • 5 yrs. of Injection Molding Setup Technician experience.


Salary Range:  Skilled Trade LG8 - $22.22 - $36.18 per hour
