The Automation Engineering Technician role assists the Engineering staff in executing project related work in the areas of automation equipment design, development, building and validation.  They may also work in the areas of mold process development, tool design, and mold tending automation.  The position reports to an Engineer or above.



  • Strong technical ability, multi-tasked, computer-literate, solid communication skills, accurate/attention to detail, analytical, and self-motivated. 
  • Works well with all levels of the internal technical staff
  • Have good working knowledge of industrial controls including PLC’s, vision systems, VFDs, Control Circuits, electrical distribution systems and Motors/Wiring configurations
  • Handle assembly of machines which may include mechanical or electrical recommendations to facilitate installation and assembly.
  • Utilize a variety of testing equipment for troubleshooting of equipment and systems.
  • Document designs, work instructions and procedures within Edgewell documentation systems
  • Write reports and summaries of equipment tests and evaluations performed.  
  • Present results/findings to key stakeholders.
  • Stay updated with relevant manufacturing technology, equipment and industry standards
  • Conducting all activities consistent with company and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Able to present data in a comprehensive and direct manner
  • Willing to learn and work outside of their typical comfort level
  • Ability to manage small projects within the immediate organization
  • Automation equipment building, assembling, debugging
  • Decommission, relocate and set up equipment at new locations, including locations off site
  • Molding automation optimization, troubleshooting and development
  • Set up and execution of Engineering trials for new technology
  • Maintain thorough working, set-up and operating knowledge of machines, equipment and processes.
  • Make corrections to equipment and processes utilizing standard operating procedures as needed.
  • Using a systems approach, diagnose machine or equipment trouble and determine type and extent of repairs necessary.
  • Follow an established preventive maintenance schedule and perform a complete check out on various machines.
  • Be able to move (push, pull, or otherwise manipulate) materials up to 751bs. and be capable of bending and stretching.
  • Performs other duties and/or tasks assigned by manager.



  • Associates Degree in manufacturing, molding, plastics, mechatronics or equivalent with 3 years related experience,                                                                                                                                                                  Or...
  • High School degree or general education degree (GED) plus 10 years of work experience in a related field, Or...
  • Certified Toolmaker/Machinist with 7 years of experience
  • Demonstrated ability to work with complex machinery
  • Demonstrated ability to problem solve and troubleshoot complex engineering problems
  • Must possess computer skills (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Interface with various internal and external personnel including RD&E, manufacturing, and Quality to coordinate work required and schedules.
  • The ability to work on multiple tasks with a minimum of supervision. 
  • Good communication, interpersonal skills and report writing ability.
