POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for managing the overall program activities for assigned projects, ensuring project schedules and budgets are met. This involves analyzing project requirements, formulating feasible options, developing recommendations for an optimum solution, and managing the implementation of the approved solution. A colleague in this position would manage cross-functional teams, resources, and program budgets.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Leads, manages and implements projects on time and within budget, by utilizing appropriate Program Management tools and systems.
  • Establishes and communicates clear program scope, objectives, goals, and gains stakeholder & team alignment.
  • Insures the proper resources (team members) are assigned to the project.
  • Develops project business plans/schedule with cross functional team input.
  • Assigns tasks, manages schedules and maintains priorities for assigned projects.
  • For NPD projects, responsible for creating stage-gate contract documents and submitting for electronic approvals by management to proceed to next phase of project(s).
  • Responsible for determining capital and technical project expense requirements for a project. Completes and submits CAR (Capital Appropriation Request) to management for approvals. For NPD projects, CARs are needed to proceed to implementation phase to commercialize and launch a product). Note: this is not applicable to GSC.
  • Tracks the efforts & progress of the project team and insures visibility of progress and successful completion of project through use of appropriate project tracking tools, timelines, team meetings, etc.
  • Fosters teamwork and synergy, creativity, and prudent risk taking in order to maximize effectiveness. Fosters individual empowerment by delegating appropriate responsibility, authority and accountability.
  • For NPD projects, works closely with the appropriate Global Business Manager to ensure marketing timelines and deliverables for a project are integrated with technical timeline and deliverables in order to meet launch objectives.
  • For GSC initiatives, works closely with colleagues in GSC, Global and Regional IT, International and Regional Commercial, and Global Operations to ensure all functional timelines and deliverables are integrated to meet the initiative objectives.
  • Works with the team members in developing solutions to issues that arise during the progress of the project. Effectively utilize resources outside of the team (on an as needed basis) as required to address and solve problems as they arise.
  • Takes corrective action when projects are not on track for targeted completion.
  • Elevates issues according to a standard protocol when they are not being solved or attended to at the project level.
  • Work to insure risks within a project are clearly defined, mitigated, and communicated to team and appropriate levels of management.

 

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Types of projects to be managed are New Product Development, Commercial, Cost Savings, Strategic Operations Projects (footprint changes, capacity expansions), corporate Projects (acquisitions, divestitures), and Global Supply Chain initiatives.
  • For Cost Savings, Operations, Global Supply Chain and Corporate Projects – may need to build business case justification for proposed changes and work seamlessly across functions to get full support and ownership of program initiatives.
  • May also perform additional duties as assigned

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher
  • 5+ years experience in a related technical and/or business responsibility at the professional level with at least one year of management experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Project, and other program management tools and systems
  • Proven leadership, strategic abilities, self-motivated and needs little supervision.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal, written, presentation) and interpersonal skills to effectively interface with various functional groups within the organization and external agencies.
  • Ability to influence the decision making process while balancing strategic and financial factors and priorities.
  • Highly developed project management, analytical, organizational and problem solving skills.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
  • Strong change management, negotiating and conflict resolution skills.
  • 7+ years experience in a related technical and/or business field with 4+ years experience in a consumer products manufacturing environment
  • 3+ years of project management experience
  • Previous leadership experience
