Position Summary

Provides mechanical expertise required to safely and effectively manufacture high volume consumer products of high quality and at lowest cost. Provides support to Manufacturing Operations by recommending and implementing improvements to line output, transfer mechanical knowledge, and be part of project teams.

 

Specific Accountabilities

  • Provide technical input to optimize the manufacturing quality and efficiency of all Dover Feminine Care production operations. This includes:
    • Leading efforts and/or projects to provide solutions to permanently fix recurring problems on the production lines.
    • Solving production technical problems on an immediate turnaround basis.
    • Streamlining the existing machinery and processes to improve quality and reduce cost wherever possible.
  • Provide manufacturability input and timing to assist R&D and marketing on all new product ideas or changes.
  • Maintain and improve the center lining program on each production line.
  • Assist with developing and improving the training program for Mechanics and Production Technicians to ensure appropriate knowledge transfer.
  • Provide technical expertise to Single Minute Exchange Dial (SMED) initiatives to improve efficiencies.

 

Required Skills and Experience

  • Mechanical expertise or Engineering background
  • Results oriented individual unafraid of utilizing a hands-on approach when needed, with the ability to lead sub-groups, task forces or teams to effectively solve machinery problems ranging from simple (slight modification/addition of single component) to more complex (on high speed, high volume machinery).
  • Demonstrated ability to work with cross functional teams.
  • Ability to work with outside suppliers, contractors and consultants to tap into specialized engineering expertise when needed.
  • Excellent communications skills – must be able to communicate effectively within the organization, both laterally and vertically.
  • Ability to train others
  • Working knowledge of MS Office.

 

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Prior experience with major equipment relocations including start up, de-bug and validation execution.
  • At least 10 years of experience in mechanical roles within a manufacturing process.

 

 

Working Relationships

  • Reports to Business unit manager. Key relationships internally will include Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, Maintenance & Planning/Scheduling departments and their colleagues.

Work Environment

  • Travel Requirements may vary from several days per year to several weeks, as required for training and projects.
  • Position may require bending, stooping, climbing and standing for extended periods of time.
  • Work schedule will typically be during day shift.  Some variation of those hours may be required periodically for projects need.
