Position Summary

As an integral member of the Dover Team, the Senior Environmental Engineer will develop, implement, and oversee the Environmental Management Systems. This includes managing relationships with regulatory agencies, working with onsite management & facility teammates, developing all appropriate environmental programs and leading environmental activities at the site.

Universal Accountabilities

  • Lead all environmental compliance initiatives (hazardous & regulated waste, air emissions, water, stormwater, spill prevention, etc.) and ensure regulatory requirements are being met.
  • Identify all applicable environmental requirements (SARA Title III, RCRA, CAA, CWA, TSCA, DNREC, DOT, etc.) and implement appropriate programs or management systems to comply with these requirements.
  • Responsible for developing, implementing and/or ensuring appropriate environmental policies, procedures, and SOPs are in place and appropriate employees are trained, as appropriate.
  • Coordinate and lead site interaction with regulatory agencies to verify compliance (e.g., regulatory inspections), resolve situations, discuss specific requirements, and maintain a cooperative working relationship.
  • Ensure all required environmental records (inspection records, permit recordkeeping logs, manifests, etc.) are maintained according to regulatory requirements and completed in a timely manner.
  • Ensure all required environmental reporting requirements (hazardous waste report, Tier II report, etc.) are met and submitted by either regulatory or other required deadlines and timeframes.
  • Report any potential violations (internally and/or externally, as required) and implement corrections, as needed.
  • Conduct frequent environmental inspections and procedural audits of the Dover facility (including the manufacturing operation, property, outbuildings, and support areas) and have the skills, knowledge, and ability to take immediate corrective action for findings, if appropriate.
  • Ensure facility compliance to Edgewell EHS Policies and Standards
  • Recommend and implement appropriate environmentally related capital projects for the site.
  • Participate in and/or lead environmental management of change activities for new equipment or processes.
  • Investigate environmental incidents through root cause analysis and develop effective corrective actions to prevent future occurrence.
  • Supervise and maintain the facility recycling program and act as recycling vendor lead contact.
  • Further develop and maintain the facility Sustainability Program, including tracking and submitting sustainability data as required by Edgewell.
  • Participate in calls, meetings or other activities as requested by Facility Leadership or Global EHS Department
  • May also perform additional duties, as assigned.


Required Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Environmental Engineering or related Science disciplines
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, preferably in the chemical or relevant manufacturing industry
  • Have a technical knowledge of: SARA, RCRA, DOT, CWA, CAA, TSCA, and other applicable regulations
  • Experience in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and incident investigation techniques such as Tap Root®
  • Experience in implementing comprehensive environmental projects & environmental permitting
  • Familiar with environmental management systems requirements (e.g., ISO 14001)
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Exceptional communication skills
  • Knowledgeable about best practice environmental approaches.
  • PC skills; Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); and other applicable applications

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Professional certifications preferred (PE., CHMM, etc.)

Working Relationships

  • Site personnel, Global EHS Department, Edgewell EHS Coordinators, Sustainability Team Members, contractors, and regulatory agencies

Work Environment

  • Some travel required for environmental audits and/or training. Otherwise, minimal travel will be required.
  • Be able to get under/over equipment to do inspections and diagnostic work.
  • Work schedule is projected to be typical business hours. Some work might be required on night shifts and weekends.
  • Exposure to health risks or conditions that may require the use of Personal Protective Equipment.
