Position Summary

The Technician role assists R&D staff in executing project related work in the areas of laboratory testing, product/process trials, prototype development, packing of consumer tests, and compliance with good laboratory and documentation practices. The position reports to Senior Scientist or above. 

 

Universal Accountabilities

  • Prepare samples for testing according to appropriate protocols and test methods.
  • Execute testing and record raw data results consistent with good record keeping procedures
  • Write reports, reviews and summaries of tests and experiments performed. 
  • Present results/findings to key stakeholders.
  • Stay updated with relevant laboratory test methods, equipment and industry standards
  • Installing and maintaining laboratory test equipment
  • Calibrate laboratory test equipment.
  • Prepare and pack test samples for consumer use test according to test protocols.
  • Conducting all activities consistent with company and departmental policies and procedures.

 

Specific Accountabilities

  • Perform testing according to appropriate protocols and test methods
  • Record, analyze and present results/findings to key stakeholders
  • Operate, maintain, repair and troubleshoot existing laboratory equipment
  • Assist in maintaining procedures necessary for proper laboratory operations
  • Provide technical support to other functions as required
  • Interface with various internal and external personnel to coordinate work required and timing.

 

Required Skills and Experience

  • 0-2 years of industrial experience.
  • Minimum High School diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic planning, organizing and time management skills.
  • Familiarity with PC and software (e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel)

 

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Associate’s Degree.
  • Basic understanding of Good Laboratory Practices/Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Relevant practical laboratory work experience.
  • Strong Analytical Skills (Minitab)
  • Familiar with Tensile Strength Equipment (Instron)
  • Experience in disposable consumer product desirable, with direct experience in Feminine Care consumer products (pads, liners and/or tampons) a significant advantage.

 

Working Relationships

  • Key relationships will include R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, Engineering and Marketing.  This position will have significant interaction across the organization providing laboratory technical support to both drive and fund growth to our business.
  • External engagement may include raw material suppliers, calibration services, laboratory equipment support services, etc.
  • The Laboratory Technician reports directly to the Lab Supervisor R&D Group Leader.
  • Opportunity to participate and support special projects/initiatives as directed and agreed by R&D Management and the Lab Supervisor, R&D Manager and R&D Group Leader.

 

Work Environment

  • Typical physical requirements of an office environment is necessary
  • The team is located in the Feminine Care production facility located in Dover, DE.
  • Exposure to health risks or conditions that may require the use of Personal Protective Equipment.

 

The salary range for this position is $48,000 - $65,000. Actual base salary offered to a candidate may vary based upon factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance.
