Position Summary:

With light supervision, review and assess cosmetic chemicals against global regulation for the support of the development of Cosmetics, OTC Drugs and consumer products globally. Direct responsibilities for the support of product compliance regarding chemical content. Assure all systems and documentation comply with regulatory chemical requirements for OTC, Cosmetic and consumer and other products. Assist with annual EU/UK REACH reporting requirements.  Assist with the development of compliance strategies and provide advice on chemical regulatory requirements.;



  • Helps develop Regulatory Affairs strategies, policies, and objectives in accordance with Company strategic plans.
  • Provide regulatory guidance, risk assessment and management throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Prepare regulatory assessment of cosmetic chemicals assuring products meet relevant regulatory requirements globally.
  • Provide on-going support to New Product Development and Commercial project teams on regulatory issues and questions.
  • Issue label ingredient statements used in the development of Artwork globally.
  • Confirm product or formula acceptability in local markets.
  • Research and monitor changes in Regulation Standards that may impact the business.
  • Assist with EU/UK REACH tracking and reporting.
  • Assist with Australian AICIS reporting.
  • Complete or provide support to Government and Retailer Regulatory surveys.
  • Author Standard Operating Procedures for routine Regulatory transactions and work processes.
  • Maintain tracking sheets for Regulatory transactions.
  • Perform administrative functions as required to support Global projects.
  • Represent EPC to trade association Committees or Task Forces as assigned.
  • Represent Regulatory to Core Team Meetings as assigned.
  • Build library and network of regional regulatory resources.
  • Maintain specialized product category knowledge.

Required Education, Skills and Experience

  • B.A. / B.S. required; scientific degree in regulatory affairs, chemistry, engineering, or life sciences.
  • A minimum of 6 years of related experience within a cosmetic or regulated consumer or healthcare products environment.
  • Chemical regulation knowledge is required. Sound knowledge of and demonstrated experience with Global product registration and pre-conformity assessment processes is mandatory.  Sound knowledge of Global Regulations for Cosmetic, OTC and Consumer Products required.

Desirable Education, Skills and Experience

  • Proficient understanding of chemistry and cosmetic/OTC chemicals is required.
  • Experience in regulatory compliance standards for Consumer Products
  • OTC cosmetics and Skin care products experience a big plus
  • Demonstrated proficiency with regulatory planning/strategy.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, standards and guidelines affecting consumer and consumer products.
  • Good negotiation skills, diplomacy and professional judgement are required.
  • Effective verbal / written communication, interpersonal, and influencing skills.
  • Ability to interface with internal and external contacts at all levels. Ability to clearly communicate technical and non-technical information via verbal presentations and in writing.
  • Good computer skills. Proficiency with Word, Excel, Access/databases e-mail and internet applications. SAP experience is desirable.
  • Strong attention to detail and good record-keeping skills.
  • Excellent organizational, prioritization and follow up skills. Ability to handle multiple tasks / projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to think and act independently and to make sound decisions.
  • Demonstrated ability to juggle multiple competing priorities and to complete projects on time. Service-oriented.
