The Scientist role supports business needs as outlined by the Sr. Manager in Future Sun Technology.  The Scientist role develops a research investigation plan and conducts research related to Sun technology developments.  The Scientist role conducts In-depth analyses and integration of data derived from single or multiple tests to present a comprehensive picture and recommended actions.  The Scientist role assists in the product development and implementation of new methods specific to Sun care.

 

Accountabilities

  • Drive technology developments to proof of principle and reduce to practice in Sun delivery systems
  • Drive research testing and method development for Future Sun Technology projects
  • Learning to design and execute assigned research investigations consistent with sound, robust scientific investigations that meet international standards and are defensible in front of the scientific community.
  • Developing solid, scientific-based understanding of the principles of concentrated area of science and consumer research.
  • Designing and executing robust research studies that are objective driven and meets the needs of the project team.
  • Presentation of all information in a manner that is coherent and accurately reflects the results obtained in the research investigation.
  • “Up-to-date” knowledge and application of statistical analysis procedures for the investigation of product/process/consumer data.
  • Application of technical tools that support testing and data management (automated data collection systems, statistical software, Microsoft Office, Product Lifecycle Management, etc.)
  • Demonstrating the ability to take initiative, think and work independently, problem-solve, work in teams and multitask; a solution orientated professional.
  • Maintaining and expanding “knowledge base” required within the area of work.
  • Participating in cross functional and project teams, as assigned by their supervisor, by providing technical understanding of core area of expertise.
  • Conducting all activities consistent with company and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Good documentation practices of any records and data.

 

Required Education, Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering with at least 3 years’ work experience.

 

Desirable Education, Skills and Experience

  • Advanced degree in Science or Engineering (M.Sc. or Ph.D.) 
  • Experience with Sun care product development
  • Basic understanding of product/process/consumer based research as a scientific discipline
  • Ability to frame internal customer needs into actionable studies
  • Ability to coordinate projects including the design, execution, analysis and reporting
  • Basic proficiency in applying and developing methodologies including quantitative and qualitative testing, statistics, and design of experiments to answer objectives
  • Ability to function as a collaborating team member in a business environment to support area of discipline on cross-functional teams
  • Ability to take initiative, think and work independently, problem-solve, work in teams
  • A solution orientated professional with the ability to execute multiple tasks required to meet project objectives
  • Communicates effectively intra and interdepartmentally to meet project objectives
  • Good documentation practices of any records and data

  • Professional and technical staff in the Department
  • Product Development and Innovation Teams
  • All RD&E, Marketing, Program Management, Legal Staff
  • Quality Assurance and Manufacturing

  • Consultants and Vendors

 

Work Environment

  • 10% travel may be required
  • Work space definition (lab)
  • Exposure to health risks or conditions that may require the use of Personal Protective Equipment
