POSITION SUMMARY:

With direct supervision, plans and performs engineering, design, and other technical/administrative tasks involved in the concept, development, and industrialization of products and processes. This position will have regular on-site presence at our Milford, CT manufacturing facility.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Assists members of cross-functional production teams.
  • Develops new product and process specifications and test methods.
  • Conducts tests on new designs and equipment.
  • Assists in the creation of designs and conducts research as necessary.
  • Documents new procedures, drawing sets and associated work instructions
  • Assists in training colleagues
  • Provides technical support to manufacturing to ensure uninterrupted operations & process improvements.

 

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Works in an environment and culture in which Engineers will:

  • Foster program management, teamwork, and synergy in relationships with other technical groups, manufacturing, quality assurance, and logistics.
  • Be willing to recommend taking reasonable risks to gain improvement (timeliness, quality, simplicity, innovation) for new product activities.
  • Foster innovation of new products technically driven.
  • Keep abreast of new technologies.
  • Annual Financial Targets per plan.
  • Lean and project improvement philosophies.
  • Working Relationships: continual communications with Engineering, Quality, and Manufacturing, as well as all levels of management, contact with outside engineering, tooling, materials, fabrication, and assembly vendors.
  • Any additional duties as assigned by the manager.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • BS degree in related Engineering field.
  • Basic skills in engineering computer software (SolidWorks, CAD), engineering metrology, and test equipment. 
  • Good communication, interpersonal skills and report writing ability.

 

ENVIRONMENTAL, HEALTH AND SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Be aware of and follow the Environmental Policy and EH&S work instructions/procedures that apply to the job.
  • Perform every job safely, for the benefit of self, co-workers, and contractors, and for the protection of facilities. This includes the use of required personal protective equipment and use of safety equipment as well as safe work practices.
  • Immediately report every job-related injury or illness, regardless of severity, to a supervisor.
  • Assist in investigating incidents as directed by your supervisor.
  • Take necessary actions to correct or stop any unsafe conditions or practices.
  • Actively participate in safety meetings and training.
  • Review Material Data Sheet instructions before working with any chemical product.

 

QUALITY ASSURANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Colleagues are responsible for their own quality and that of colleagues within their span of control. 
  • Colleagues are responsible to follow all established Quality procedures and instructions. 
  • Notify supervision for corrective action if and when defects are found and/or parts/processes do not conform to specifications.

 

The salary range for this position is $60,000 - $90,000. Actual base salary offered to a candidate may vary based upon factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance.
