Position Summary:

The Maintenance Manager provides technical and program leadership to a staff of salaried and hourly professionals with a focus on maintenance org design, maintenance support, and improving high speed automated manufacturing lines.  S/he will provide leadership, act as a coach, mentor, and facilitator for the Maintenance Department and will be expected to foster teamwork within the workplace while utilizing daily measures to achieve results. This position requires good knowledge of the elements of Maintenance – reactive, planned, predictive and reliability.  Collaborates closely with Operations and Engineering to provide tactical support as needed and collaborates with Engineering and R&D on strategic efforts / New Product Development.

 

Accountabilities

  • Accountable for all aspects of Maintenance Support, including daily support and long term strategy development.
  • Manages the execution of the maintenance program to ensure effective and efficient service.
  • Works in conjunction with the production team to maintain throughput and plant efficiencies while continuously striving to reduce plant downtime and improve the preventive maintenance program.
  • Evaluates, plans, develops, and implements new methods and procedures designed to improve operations, minimize operating costs, and effect greater utilization of labor and materials.
  • Tracks, analyzes, and improves key maintenance parameters such as asset utilization, maintenance cost, PM compliance, schedule compliance, etc.
  • Accountable for the implementation/execution of preventative and predictive maintenance programs and practices for manufacturing equipment.
  • Accountable for collaboration with Operations and Engineering to ensure uninterrupted Supply Chain.
  • Accountable for collaboration with Engineering and R&D to ensure successful execution of New Product introductions and upgrades.
  • Accountable for planning, development, and submittal of comprehensive plans and budgets for execution of maintenance solutions.
  • Accountable for participating in talent acquisition at both the hourly and salary level.
  • Direct capital and operational budget development for both short term and long term (5+ years).

 

 

Required Education, Skills and Experience

  • BS degree in Engineering or demonstrated equivalent experience.
  • 10 or more years of experience in engineering leadership/support in a high speed manufacturing operation, preferably in the consumer products arena.
  • Ability to lead/direct large teams to accomplish specific project goals within tight budget and time constraints.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to develop working relationships on all levels and thrive in a team environment.

 

Desirable Education, Skills and Experience

  • Experience with high-speed converting and consumer goods operations is a plus.
  • Experience with LEAN / Six Sigma manufacturing tools and techniques. 
  • Experience in a cGMP compliant manufacturing environment.

  • Review Material Data Sheet instructions before working with any chemical product.

 

Quality Assurance Responsibilities (If applicable)

  • Teammatess are responsible for their own quality and that of teammates within their span of control. 
  • Teammates are responsible to follow all established Quality procedures and instructions. 
  • Notify supervision for corrective action if and when defects are found and/or parts/processes do not conform to specifications.

 

Working Relationships

  • Reports to Plant Manager.  Key relationships internally will include Operations, Engineering, Quality, R&D and Planning/Scheduling departments and their teammates.

 

Work Environment

  • Travel requirements may vary from several days per year to several weeks, as required for training and projects.
  • Work schedule will typically be during day shift.  Some variation of those hours may be required periodically for projects and/or emergency situations.

The salary range for this position is $112,000-150,000.  Actual base salary offered to a candidate may vary based upon factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance.
